Noteworthy Bible Verses 2 Years, 4 Months ago
I am starting this thread for everyone to be able to share their favorite verses, life verses, or just any verse that may have "rocked your world" (translation: changed your life) recently for the Lord Jesus Christ. If you're feeling adventurous you can even share why the verse has meant a lot to you.

Maybe we'll get lucky and have our verse put on the main site instead of the forum, so that we would also get to listen to the wonderfully soothing voice of the Panamanian Scot Max McLean as he reads the verses on the audio link for each Bible verse written out!

For me, I know Romans 12:1-2 has meant a lot in my life, and it will continue to make a difference as it is currently the theme verse to the new lesson series the youth ministry has just started. It has encouraged me to truly give my whole life as an offering to the Lord, as an act of lifestyle worship. Also, having not grown up in the church it has brought to life the simple truth of how to please God and know His will.

Now it's your turn!

I would have to agree with you Tom, on Romans 12:1-2. I've always had that one on the tip of my heart. Another one I love is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

What a great reminder.

My life verse is James 1:2-4 (Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds. For you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.)

This is such a hard verse to live because it promises trials and testing of the faith, but it also promises hope and completion. I see this Scripture as a true example of how "joy" is so very different from "happiness," and in this truth I find peace.

Hosh! You stole the verse I was gonna do! Does that mean I have to share a new one or can I just repeat yours?
Well, other than 2 Cor. 4:16-18, I'd say Proverbs 30:8-9:
"Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the Lord?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God."
I really feel like this is what the Lord has done for Josh and I. We never seem to be able to "get ahead" as we would like, but we always have just enough to be okay. Not poor, but not rich. The Lord is truly faithful to supply our daily bread.

One of my favorite verses in Romans 12 I get a lot of encouragement from is verse 12: "be joyful in hope; faithful in affliction; faithful in prayer." Keeps me going.

John 20:27, 28
"Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.' Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

I've always been a questioner and a doubter of things on face value and had been told for ages that Thomas had somehow been a lesser Apostle because of that. And then I learned that Jesus didn't chastise Thomas. Instead Jesus met him at the point of disbelief.
Only just now did I realize the impact of verse 28. For Thomas to say "My Lord and my God!" seems like a massive realization. I have no scholarly confirmation but this seems the first admission by one of Jesus' disciples that Jesus wasn't just "Rabbi", Messiah, prophet, or king. But instead that he was Lord and God.

Pax,
